Every year, thousands of people move to Florida. State estimates suggest each year, more than 300,000 new people decide to call Florida home. If you’re one of the thousands of people moving to Florida in the next year, or you’re considering calling this state home, you may wonder why so many people find it attractive. Why move to Florida over another state? There are many reasons this is the place to be.

The Beaches

For many people, the beaches are Florida’s major attraction. Florida is home to some of the top-ranked beaches in the United States today, and no matter where you are in the state, you’re less than ninety minutes from a beautiful beach. While there are lots of great public beaches that are simply unbeatable, there are just as many quiet coves where you’ll appreciate the continual sound of the waves, the feel of the sand, and the amazing water temperatures. With warm weather throughout the year, the beaches are absolutely a great attraction.

The Economy

Another reason so many people move to Florida is for the economy. While many people believe the economy here is nothing more than tourism, the simple truth is that this is a hot place for several different industries, from defense to banking and tech to education. Florida offers a number of different kinds of jobs for virtually everyone, along with a relatively low cost of living, an average median home price, and one big draw – the lack of a state income tax. While there are other taxes in Florida like a higher gas tax, slightly higher than average property taxes, and sales taxes, the fact that you’ll get more in every check you take home is a big draw. This economy shows little signs of slowing, too, which makes it a really attractive place to live.

The Weather

While northern and southern Florida both experience slightly different weather, you may never need another winter coat again, even in northern Florida. In northern Florida, you can expect the temperature to range from 68 degrees to 92 degrees. That range is quite a bit smaller in southern Florida. The weather is an attractive option for many people who simply don’t want to deal with the snow or colder temperatures. You can grow citrus fruits right in your own backyard, there are palm trees everywhere, and almost every day is a great day to get outside and enjoy your space. There are nearly 200 days of sunshine in the state each year, so whether you just want to take a walk on your lunch break or you want to hit the waves as often as possible, the weather is likely to cooperate with you.

Florida’s population is only likely to go up in the years to come, and so many people choose to move to the state for a number of different reasons. The real question is, what is your reason for moving to Florida?
